I’m Amber, from Amsterdam, currently finishing my thesis for the Master I’m doing in Political Communication Science at the University of Amsterdam. Aside from that, I share pictures of all vegan foods that I make myself or enjoy somewhere else on my page @ohsoplantiful. I grew up as a vegetarian, and my motto had been “nothing with a face” even before going vegan (I did not have all the information back then;)). About a month after starting my Master’s, where I was reading a lot of research about climate change communication, I watched Cowspiracy. The next day I decided to try to go vegan and I haven’t looked back since. It felt like the most natural decision I’d ever made and additionally I had a whole new area of cooking to explore.
I have always loved cooking and all things food-related, and being able to use products that are nutritious, cruelty-free, and do not put a strain on the planet honestly almost seems too good to be true. One of my favorite things has always been cooking for people, I’ve been doing it since I was 8. I’ve continued doing so and it’s such a wonderful thing to surprise non-vegans with how great plant-based foods and dishes can be. I think that step by step that’s how we can persuade people to think about a vegan diet. By addressing the danger our planet is in, and therefore our future here, and consequently showing the ease and deliciousness of vegan foods. I believe that we can make a positive change in the world by getting more people to try a vegan diet; for the animals, for the planet, and for people, not just those that are currently eating themselves to death but also for those that are dying of hunger. So hopefully, by doing small things I can contribute even just a tiny little bit to all that positivity and change.
