Hello! I’m Amanda and I live in Northern California.
I became a vegan in September 2016, which was actually my 2nd time trying veganism. The first attempt was in 2012, without any skills in the kitchen, support from my family and new carnivorous husband, I gave up after 6 months. But I continued eating mostly „healthy“ afterwards. Or so I thought.
This time around, however is a whole other story. I knew I’d feel great and lose a few lbs along the way. But what I’ve experienced since then, has extended far beyond my expectations. It is truly amazing what eating properly and plant based, can do for the body, mind, and spirit. I feel so much more connected with everything now. It’s very uplifting, and to my surprise, my brain just works better now! I did not expect that.
Actually, my journey to veganism began with my recipe for Fire Cider. It is a crazy, spicy, holistic medicinal infusion I make every few months, to keep my immunity in top shape. In doing my research for it’s benefits, I came across some extremely interesting info about parasites. Apparently most, if not all of us have
Parasjtes of some forms Yes, Even here in America. Ewww! So, Thats when I began my trip down the rabbit hole. I learned about bodily toxins, along with different types of parasites and the damage they can cause. I learned that washing our fruits and veg improperly is one way to get those icky things. Then I found myself diving face first into the meat and dairy industry. Which is the #1 culprit.
I stumbled upon a vegan activist’s instagram page, and watched in horror as it showed a baby pig being tortured in a slaughterhouse video. I shrieked and then cried. My husband Josh, came running. I showed it to him, and He said „yeah but those things don’t happen in all slaughterhouses, that’s just an extreme situation.“ That was when I had to know more. I needed answers immediately .
Fast forward 10 months and he now has been a full-blown vegan since this January! Partly in great thanks, to James Aspey, and his phenomenal speeches. We love that guy!! Josh was dealing with IBS and poor digestive issues. We had done every test available to find out what was causing it. Nobody had any answers. Since going vegan, he has not has one single problem! Not one! It really is amazing.
Without the fantastic support and education I’ve received from the online vegan community, our success would’ve possibly not gone as well. I am beyond grateful to each and every single person out there getting the vegan word out, and making people aware of what is actually happening. It is so important.
