At different times in my life I always leaned towards a vegan diet. (We all know it’s not vegans filling up the hospital.) But with the stresses of life, raising three kids, having a husband fighting stage 4 cancer, and the forever complications of his bone marrow transplant I ate what was convenient — not realizing the horrors of factory farming or the impact on the environment.
A year and a half ago it took one short video on the cruel reality of the dairy industry to break my heart. How had I not made the connection before?
I know I cannot make people care, but I can suggest they investigate what they are eating and feeding their children! Watching “Earthlings“ is a good start.
The compassion I feel through veganism has spread to other parts of my life. We bought an electric car, make a monthly donation to Planned Parenthood, and have signed up to help at the warming center—all small actions but they can collectively help change the world.
