Hi fellow Earthlings! My name is Nora and I’m 52 years old. I’ll be vegan for 4 years in 4 months. I’m a homemaker and a volunteer for Animal Allies SG. I’m living in two countries, Singapore and Canada.
I transitioned into the vegan lifestyle after watching documentaries on how farm animals are being treated. One of the documentaries that really affected me was Earthlings. There was a scene in the movie where the cows were abused. Then, I thought to myself, „All this, just for milk, beef and leather? “
I also came to realize that animal agriculture was one of the major contributors to global greenhouse gas emissions, which I learned from the documentary, Cowspiracy. These were the reasons that motivated me to go vegan.
Recently, my son @theveganmumnson, his partner, Cherish, and I started ‚theveganbakesnmakes‘, an online shop offering tantalizing vegan treats, like cakes, brownies etc. We recently had the honour of participating in the Ramadhan Bake Sale and our team managed to raise over $240, all of which went to the Aceh Earthquake Relief Project organized by @majulah.community’s Rogue One Squadron.
To me, helping the less fortunate is just as important as helping the animals.
