Hi, my name is Peter Labrie and its an honor and true pleasure to share my vegan transformation story and the events leading up to it.
First some background information- as a kid I struggled with being over weight and was bullied and teased in class. I had to change two different schools before I reached the eighth grade. By the time I entered high school I had developed the eating disorder commonly known as anorexia. I would go days, weeks, even months barely eating anything at all. I had got down to an extremely unhealthy body weight below 130 and this cycle continued all through my freshman/senior year.
Fast forward to my late teens/twenties and I started drinking almost every day. I was an an alcoholic before age 21 and the binge eating also got out of control. I ballooned up to 246 lbs at my heaviest. That was about 6 years ago. Long story short I had finally quit drinking but developed a binge and purge eating cycle which left me at a severely unhealthy low body weight like my high school years. From 246lbs down to 130lbs. One day while searching random YouTube videos, I stumbled upon a clip that was entitled „vegan demolishes news reporter“ it was a Gary Yourofsky clip about 14 minutes long and he truly went to town touching all of the important topics of veganism from health to the unnecessary cruelty/slaughter of animals ext,ext. I was completely blown away and started watching all his talks and researching it deeply.
That day, after watching that vid, I ditched the meat dairy and eggs and never looked back. That may sound extreme just cutting out all animal products cold turkey after a couple of lectures, but I’m an all or nothing kind of guy so I didn’t need to transition. I knew I just couldn’t ever be a part of consciously consuming cruelty ever again. So that was almost 2 years ago and for the past 15months I’ve been eating real whole plant based foods and working out. I’ve come so far in a short amount of time and look forward to sharing with people the miraculous benefits of what a whole foods plant based vegan diet can do. Not only for your physical health, but for your whole state of mind. Just knowing that you are not partaking in the unnecessary torture and slaughter of innocent sentient beings can create such joy and peace of mind. I’m now on a mission to keep growing and documenting my transformation to inspire and creat change in others🙏🏻
