¡Hola! My name is Vianey Reyes. I am 16 years old, currently in sophomore year. I’m Mexican American and I live in Los Angeles, CA. I went vegan when I was 14 years old and I’ve been vegan for a year and ten months now. I went vegan after watching a clip of the dairy industry. I thought of the pain a mother cow goes through when her children are separated from her. I had always wanted to be a mother and because of that I couldn’t keep supporting such a cruel industry. Not wanting to hurt these mother cows and their babies made me not want to hurt any other animals as well, and I went vegan.
I started doing activism around in June of last year.

Since then I’ve been participating in marches, protests, demos etc. I even did a speak out! Animals are beings just like us who deserve the right to be happy, safe and free. I want to fight for animal liberation for them, and that is why I am an activist.
I think the hardest part about being vegan is not having the support from my family, but the fellow activists I’ve met have been my family and I feel their support. (The picture is from a grand opening of a Dunkin’ Donuts).
